Library Catalog Help
To access the library’s catalog, click here. The catalog is not available on Saturdays between 6:00-9:00 p.m. due to scheduled maintenance.
Getting Started
- Double-click on the iBistro Library Catalog logo.
- The default is set to search by words or phrase. Use the drop-down menu to search by author, title, or subject.
- Enter your search term(s), using lower-case letters without any punctuation or special characters.
- The default is set to search ZBPL. Use the drop-down menu to choose another library or search All Libraries.
- Click Search.
- For more options, use Power Search.
- To search in Spanish, click on Español at the top of the page.
Finding an Item
- From your Search Results, find the item you searched for and select Details. The item information will appear and will show you which library owns the item, where it is located, and if it is available for checkout.
- To return to your Search Results, click Go Back. Don’t use your browser for navigation.
My Account
- My Account is divided into four sections: Review My Account, Email Registration, User Password Change, and Renew My Materials.
- Review My Account shows what overdues or bills you have, what you have checked out, and what you have on hold. You can also cancel holds.
- Email Registration allows you to sign up for notifications of items coming due.
- User Password Change allows you to secure your account by changing your password from the default password (patron).
- Renew My Materials allows you to renew your own materials, except for materials on hold for another user and for videos and DVDs.
Putting an Item on Reserve
- If you find an item at the library that is available and you would like to have it put on reserve, please do not place a hold on the item.
- Call (847) 872-4680, ext. 4 for Adult Reference or ext. 5 for Youth Reference. Library staff will put the item on reserve for you and you’ll get it much faster.
- Only non-fiction videos and DVDs can be reserved. Fiction videos and DVDs are first come, first served and cannot be reserved.
Placing a Hold or Borrowing an Item from Another Library
- If the item you want is checked out, you can get on a waiting list by placing a Hold. If we don’t own the item, you can place a Hold and pick it up at ZBPL. If the item is not in the system, ask Reference staff. They may be able to borrow it from another library.
- Click on Place Hold from the Details screen in Item Information.
- In the Barcode box, enter the 14-digit barcode from the back of your library card without any spaces.
- Save yourself a drive and be sure that pickup at is Zion Benton Public Library.
- When the item is available, we’ll give you a call. The item will be in the lobby for you to pick up for the next 7 days.
Building a Bibliography
- Follow the steps above to Item Information. To add an item to your bibliography, click Keep. To remove an item, click Remove.
- Click on Kept in the top toolbar to display your bibliography.
- To print your bibliography click on Print Formatted.
- To e-mail your bibliography, enter an address and select EMAIL.
